Areas of Practice

Insurance Disputes

The interpretation of insurance policies and schedules to those policies can be complex. Not only do you need to know whether an event or liability is covered by your insurer, but you also need to understand what value your insurer is liable to pay. I advise on coverage disputes and represent clients in insurance litigation.

Coverage Disputes

Insurance coverage disputes arise when an insurer declines a claim or disputes the extent of its liability under a policy. I advise policyholders on their rights under their insurance policies and represent them in disputes with insurers. I have experience across a wide range of insurance products, including commercial property, liability, professional indemnity, directors and officers, and business interruption insurance.

Policy Interpretation

Insurance policies can be complex and difficult to interpret. I advise on the meaning and effect of policy terms, conditions, exclusions and endorsements. I can assist you to understand your rights and obligations under your policy, and to assess whether a claim is likely to be covered. I also advise on the obligations of insureds, including disclosure obligations and the duty of utmost good faith.

Insurance Litigation

Where a coverage dispute cannot be resolved by negotiation, I represent clients in insurance litigation in the High Court and Court of Appeal. I have experience in complex insurance disputes involving large claims, multiple parties, and difficult questions of policy interpretation and liability. I take a practical, commercial approach to insurance litigation, with a focus on achieving the best possible outcome for my clients.
